Albert Cheng
Albert Cheng is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Education Reform in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, where he teaches courses in education policy and philosophy. His research focuses on character formation, faith-based schools, and school choice. He is a Senior Fellow at Cardus and an affiliated research fellow at the Program on Education Policy and Governance at Harvard University. Dr. Cheng serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Christianity and Education and on the governing board of Anthem Classical Academy. He began his foray into education as a math teacher at James Logan High School in Union City, California after completing his undergraduate studies in pure mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. He later returned to school, receiving a master’s degree in education from Biola University in 2012 and his PhD in education policy from the University of Arkansas in 2016.

Dr. Carlos Valiente is Professor of Family Studies in the T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University. He studies the development of children’s emotional, social, and academic functioning. He is especially interested in understanding when and why emotion and self-control are related to success in the academic domain. His teaching activities emphasize research methods, marriage and family relationships, and family theories.

After working as a public school psychologist for 21 years—during which he served students, parents, teachers, and administrators—Dr. Steven Duvall spent the next 19 years teaching as a university professor while directing school psychology training programs. During this time, he also served as a consultant for homeschool families across the country. He is currently licensed or certified as a school psychologist in three states (Kansas, Oklahoma, and Washington) and has earned degrees from Wichita State University (BS), Pittsburg State University (MS and EdS), and the University of Kansas (PhD in developmental and child psychology).
